Hobson’s Choice

The performance of Charles Laughton (Mr. Hobson) was spectacular. I haven’t come across a better performance by anyone in all the comedy movies I have seen. A superb combination of acting and direction gives some memorable scenes. The depiction of a drunk man was one of its kind and it couldn’t have been better.

The movie is fun and refreshing. The absence of nudity and violence makes it a perfect family watch.

IMDb-“Henry Hobson is a successful bootmaker and tyrannical widower of three daughters. The girls each want to leave their father by getting married, but Henry refuses as marriage traditions require him to pay out settlements.”
