The Last Samurai

What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear something about Tom Cruise??….. Mission Impossible???….. Tom Cruise’s portrayal of a drunken U.S Captain in this flick is a deviation from his typical roles. And this might be his best performance ever.

The movie is set in the late medieval Japan. It depicts the fight between the modernisation and retention of tradition, culture and purity. The cinematography reminds you of Braveheart. For those of you who haven’t seen Braveheart, this might be a good time to add it to your watchlist. The movie makes an attempt to depict the Samurai culture and tradition. I don’t know if the depiction was accurate or not, but it was close to something angelic.

There wasn’t anything special about the movie but it also wasn’t flawed in any way. It was everything a movie should be. It touches you, it teaches you and it takes you to another world.

IMDb-“An American military advisor embraces the Samurai culture he was hired to destroy after he is captured in battle.”
