Sing Street

If done right, music adds another dimension to a movie. No wonder why Indian movies have incorporated them as an integral part. Having said that I still want to put an emphasis on the phrase ‘If done right’.

The movie Sing Street is directed by John Carney. Some of his other popular works are Once and Begin Again. Sing Street, Once and Begin Again arguably form a trio of the best musical dramas in the industry. It’s like Carney has mastered the art of directing musical dramas with so much simplicity and tenderness.

Sing Street is set in the 1985’s Dublin. Just like Once and Begin Again, people come together….create some beautiful music and romance remains an integral part of the movie. The team has done a pretty good job of recreating the 80s. The basic framework is pretty much similar to Once; some young musicians starting from scratch and creating some wonderful music.

This movie is for everyone and not for music lovers only. Filled with romance and beautiful dialogues, you will definitely enjoy this one.

IMDb-“A boy growing up in Dublin during the 1980s escapes his strained family life by starting a band to impress the mysterious girl he likes.”
